Music is an important and vital aspect of worship and community at Westminster. Under the leadership of our Organist and Musical Director, Mi-Kyong Lee, we have a talented choir that provides both pleasure and a deeper sense of meaning to our worship.
Choir
The choir performs anthems at most Sunday services and gives a special performance of carols during the service of lessons and carols in December. We enjoy solo performances by members of the choir as well as performances by members of the congregation and specially invited guests throughout the year.
In 2017 we accepted the very kind gift of a Baby Grand Piano from our former Organist and Musical Director Alan Thomas. It was dedicated to the Glory of God and now sits in the church chancel where it is regularly used by the choir.
The choir is a group of dedicated people who sing for the love of singing and to the glory of God. Choir practices are held Thursday in the afternoon, supplemented by a run-through of the week’s anthem on Sunday mornings before the service. There is always room for more and we encourage those who love to sing to consider joining the choir.
During the summer, the choir takes a break from practices and anthems. However, members who are in attendance at a service often take their seats in the choir loft to help lead the congregation in hymns.
The choir is also a social group, enjoying one another’s company at social events organized by the members.
New choir members are always welcome!
